Asia’s Best Bar of 2018, Manhattan from Singapore
Wednesday, 27 March – Friday, 29 March
This March, we will play host to Manhattan– named third best bar in the world at the World’s 50 Best Bars in 2018, and awarded Best Bar in Asia. On Wednesday, 27, Thursday, 28 and Friday, 29 March, Manhattan’s elite team will take over our Emin Room at offering Londoners a chance to experience this drinking institution on home soil.
The opulent hotel bar is recognised worldwide for its innovative and ambitious drinks programme inspired by the 19th century’s golden age of cocktails; this pop-up will be Manhattan’s first in London. Senior bartenders Kelvin Lomeda Saquilayan and Yeonju Kang, working in partnership with 34 Mayfair’s expert bar team, have designed a ten strong cocktail menu for the 34 Singapore.
The list will include the Kerman, made with Patrón Silver Tequila, pistachio orgeat and lime; the fruit forward Aviation, combining Plymouth Gin, Luxardo Maraschino, clarified lemon, crème de violette and sugar; and the Mad Dog, which mixes Monkey Shoulder Whisky, Dry Curaçao, Luxardo Maraschino, Drambuie and Absinthe with Angostura, walnut and Peychaund’s bitters for a complex and punchy finish. To complement the drinks, 34 Mayfair’s head chef, Harvey Ayliffe, has created an accompanying snack menu, including Lobster mac with shaved truffle; Buttermilk fried chicken burger, avocado and crispy bacon; and 34 tacos with lobster, shrimp and passion fruit.
A heavyweight on the Singapore cocktail scene, Manhattan Bar has gained much popularity and praise since its opening in 2014. As well as being crowned at No. 3 on the World’s Best Bar list, it scooped the top spot at the Asia’s 50 Best Bars for two years running, and was shortlisted as ‘Best International Hotel Bar’ at the prestigious ‘Tales of the Ccotkail’ in 2018.
